Magnificent Successes and Spectacular Failures in the Pursuit of Living Affordable Housing
Track: Equity + Fairness

This not-to-be missed session features veteran designers of affordable housing sharing stories from their own experiences designing Living Affordable Housing. Under the theme of truth and transparency, they will be highlighting not just where things went well, but where things didn’t go as planned and why. This session provides a valuable opportunity for others to learn from their successes and failures as well as share their own stories and experiences. The first part of this session will consist of stories about several different affordable housing projects pursuing the Living Building Challenge. The second part will consist of a Q&A session followed by small group work and large group discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to dig into a Petal such as Energy, Water, or Materials by reviewing a synopsis of the team approach to the Petal and develop a strategy to show ways the team could achieve the Petal. But watch out, “mid-project” issues could require a change in tack.  Participants should come prepared to learn, share, and have fun in this interactive educational session.
