Net Zero Energy: Schools that Make the Grade
Track: Energy + Power

Growing populations and years of deferred maintenance are impacting K-12 schools. Often administrators are forced to stretch limited budgets between building efficiency and expanded student needs. With a focus on performance and life-cycle costs, net zero energy buildings (NZEB) are the ideal solution for many districts. To achieve this ambitious goal, teams must utilize an integrated process that seamlessly combines architectural elements, site features, and systems. Our panel will discuss advanced technical strategies and lessons learned from the first two K-12 certified NZEBs in the country, and how they are sharing those skills for the design of the possible third.
