Joanna has 10 years experience planning and managing multiple communications strategies, executing brand awareness campaigns, and designing various communications platforms. Joanna oversees the Institute's Communications Department, PR efforts, social media, graphics and Trim Tab, the Institute's quarterly magazine. She directs the writing, messaging, and design of all the Institute's collateral and articles. She also directs website content and design. She has extensive experience designing and writing copy for magazines, web, reports and collateral specifically for the green building and sustainability industry, with a content focus on the Living Building Challenge-the worlds most rigorous building performance standard. 

Most recently she directed the design, development and launch of the Institute's two mobile applications, designed for iOS, Android and mobile website platforms. Joanna is a LEED Accredited Professional (2008 - present) and her published writings have appeared in GreenBiz, Yes! Magazine and more. 

Before joining the Institute, she worked for a Seattle area real estate developer where she realized the importance of changing building practices toward true sustainability so future generations can live in harmony with nature. In her early career she taught youth in Auckland, New Zealand and in rural Jamaica. Joanna holds a History degree from Ball State University.
