Jim Kalvelage is a founding partner of Opsis Architecture with a 34-year career distinguished by award-winning projects focused on building community within the higher education and civic context. Projects range from community centers to libraries, parks, arts facilities, and campus planning. Jim's design approach is rooted in the culture of placemaking, programmatic expression, and environmental performance that balances budgetary, social, and aesthetic ideals without compromising craft. He has presented at regional and national sustainable design and educational planning conferences. Jim served as an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon and has participated on regional and national design award juries.
